Alan Chapman and his new best friend, bass-baritone Bryn Terfel

In Prague to celebrate my wife Karen’s birthday. Sitting in hotel bar telling the bartender about the town of Smetana, Texas. Caught the ear of Bryn Terfel who’s singing Thursday night at Smetana Hall, which led to a long late-night conversation with him and his conductor. Karen points out that music always brings people together.

  1. Alan,

The beer diet doesn’t seem to be working for Mr. Terfel when he’s offstage.
Next to you, it looks like he’s had quite a bit more than one beer.
Hope you and your wife of a certain age (?) are having a marvelous time.
